Have you ever said?

“I just don’t have time to work out

“Gym memberships are too expensive”

“I sit down at a desk all day, of course, I have a sedentary life…And who wants to work out when I get home after 8-10 hours of work, and another one being stuck in traffic, picking up kids, cooking, cleaning…No way”

“I wish I had time to work out

Well, you should stop! We can all come up with a million excuses for why we aren’t exercising. It is always someone else’s fault. It is always some circumstance that does not allow us to make 20 minutes a day to get some exercise in. But you know just as much as I know it, they are all just excuses. I have been there. I still am there sometimes. Unless we face up the reality of it, we will keep making excuses and never get up and do anything. We have to go to work and pay our bills, so we do. But we don’t have to work out because we don’t see any immediate gratification. Some us hate or think we hate exercising.

But it really isn’t that bad and it really doesn’t take that much time either. What it takes is consistency! Consistency is key. No matter where you are, no matter what you are doing, no matter what your lifestyle, you should be able to find 20 minutes a day to get some exercise in. Tere is no magic trick. There is no mystery. Just get up and get some exercises in. And the great thing about it is, you don’t need any fancy machines, you don’t need a gym, you don’t need a trainer, you don’t need money.

All you really need to exercise is YOU!

Here are some ideas to get some exercise in throughout the day without even having to “reserve” any time for it. Although if you can schedule a specific time for exercising, do that. But since you are making all these excuses already I am not sure that you will. So here are some ideas to just get some quick exercise in.

Do you spend all day at a computer?

  • get up and do 25 squats – or as many as you can. Start with what you can and work your way up
  • use your desk or table to get some dips in
  • drop on the floor and do some push-ups – whatever kind and however many push-ups you can do and work your way up
  • repeat this as many times as you can – preferably 3-4 times minimum

Are you in the kitchen cooking? Stop in between cutting and mixing and washing a dish and…

  • stop and do 25 squats – or as many as you can. Start with what you can and work your way up
  • use your chair, counter or sink to get some dips in
  • drop on the floor and do some push-ups – whatever kind and however many push-ups you can do and work your way up
  • repeat this as many times as you can – preferably 3-4 times minimum

Wake up early and have a long day? As soon as you get out of bed, wash your face, brush your teeth, empty your bladder and then…

  • do as many sit-ups as you can
  • do as many squats as you can
  • do as many push-ups
  • repeat this as many times as you can – preferably 3-4 times minimum

Anything you do, anyway your day may be going, there is never a bad time to get up and get some squats in – as a matter of fact, I am gonna get up right now and get 50 squats in…Alright! 50 squats and 15 push-ups. There is never a bad time to stop what you are doing and get your heart rate up. Especially when you earn your living from a job that requires extended amounts of sitting, or just standing in one place.

If it sounds too simple, if it sounds too easy, it is because IT IS that simple. So right NOW. Stop what you are doing and get some squats and push-ups in! Just DO IT!
